» Facts, if you have a problem and someone’s giving you an answer, you’re probably going to listen
» Facts: If that person can describe your exact situation and issue, you’re twice as likely to believe them
» Facts: It doesn’t feel like you’re being ‘forced into buying’ when you’ve found what you’re looking for – you’re happy to buy!
This is why you have positioned yourself so you are selling a solution and NOT just a cake!! It's hard to sell something to someone if they don't need it. Just think about yourself as a customer. Have you ever been walking down the high street and someone approaches you trying to sell you something, like insurance or trying to offer you a taster of something that you don't like? You're just not interested, right? They could offer all day long and make it seem as attractive as they like but if you don't want what you're offering it's very hard to be convinced to get something you don't want or you don't need.
This is half the problem for most of us bakers, we're trying to sell cake to everyone, and people who may not need or be interested in our product. It's the reason why we may struggle to get cake orders rather than some.
